We are Bring IT to Brum (Bring Industry Training To Brum) and we're a community interest dance company that's working hard to bridge the gap between Midlands dancers and other cities. We are collaborating with DEJAVU Ent to bring this show to light.
Bring IT to Brum presents Set it Off, a dance production that aims to bridge the gap between major cities and the Midlands. Our goal has always been to provide a platform for dance artists to showcase their talents and inspire others to pursue a dance career. We have collaborated with companies/individuals to ‘Set it Off’ at the Belgrade Theatre for our first-ever dance theatre production.
Delving into the origin stories of dancers, we will explore what inspired them to become dance artists and the experiences they encountered on their journey to success. For many, this journey was not smooth; we want to explore their experiences, both highs and lows, barriers, and motivations. Some may have had it relatively easy due to their privileges, such as socio-economic status, access to classes, and loved ones who encouraged and supported their dreams and aspirations. In contrast, others may have faced barriers such as rejections due to race and body size, a lack of understanding of the culture, socio-economic status, mental health, and sexual identity.
We know that many experiences are universal for dance artists, such as attending community classes, going to dance school, and participating in auditions. We will be showing how these experiences influenced and impacted their journey.
