Belgrade LifeStage

Belgrade LifeStage: The Belgrade Theatre’s unique enrichment and work related learning programme for students aged 14 – 16 years.

Starting in September 2016, we are delighted to announce Belgrade LifeStage – a new programme of Work Related Learning courses at the Belgrade Theatre.

Following a period of consultation with local teachers and our colleagues from Coventry City Council, we have designed three new short course qualifications for learners aged 14+. The programme uses the Belgrade’s expertise in teaching through drama to deliver a range of subjects that help to increase learners’ employability and confidence, fitting with today’s industry needs.

Belgrade LifeStage is divided into three individual courses, each course is awarded by the Open College Network West Midlands

My Best Self
September – December
Level 1/2 Award in Personal Well-Being
Through drama, learners will explore issues surrounding their personal well-being, including beliefs and values, sex and relationships and understanding risk.

Creating Performance
January – April
Level 1/2 Award in Performing Arts
Learners will have the opportunity to create and perform an original piece of theatre. Learners will be involved in every stage of the creative process, from rehearsals through to performance and evaluation.

Getting Out There
April – July
Level 1 Award in Employability and Development Skills
Learners will use theatre to explore employability and develop transferable skills which they will need to enter further study or employment.

Each course will be delivered weekly at the Belgrade Theatre by experienced theatre and education practitioners. Learners will have access to our professional facilities and equipment for performances, and will be able to access free or discounted tickets to Belgrade Theatre shows throughout their time with us.

Belgrade LifeStage is designed to offer schools flexibility; learners can be referred for one or two terms, or the entire academic year, choosing those courses which best suit their needs and interests. We can also deliver these qualifications in school settings, on a more bespoke basis; please do get in touch if this is of interest.
