2005-06

In 2006 the Community & Education Company collaborated with Coventry theatre company Talking Birds and refugee youth group Yuva to create the new play Hussan and Harry. Written by Nick Walker, the story of friendship explored what it means to live in a city of reconciliation. The show took as its basis true stories collected from Youth Theatre interviews with elderly city residents who had lived during the war, and interviews with refugee unaccompanied minors escaping situations of warfare in their home countries. Following on from this, the Youth Theatre also explored how the role of secrets shifts from childhood to adolescence in its brand new production Ssshh…, aimed at young people aged 9-13 years.
