Making Memories

Making Memories

A visit to the theatre is a magical experience and often a treasured memory. Unfortunately, due to financial hardship or illness, many families across Coventry and Warwickshire are not able to make these memories.

Building upon the success of last year’s campaign, we are partnering once again with Coventry Foodbank, to provide 600 tickets to our pantomime Cinderella, offering families quality time together and the opportunity to reduce the sense of isolation that some people feel at this time of year.

A donation of £60 to Making Memories will support a local family in need (and £15 will support one child) to experience the joy, excitement and escapism that theatre can bring.

Last year was a record breaking year for the Making Memories campaign, and we raised a whopping £7,840 which meant we could help 130 local families – so THANK YOU to everyone who donated.

Why Making Memories is important

Laila lives in Coventry with her mum and four older brothers and one younger sister. The family have recently returned to the city, after escaping domestic violence, and are living in a two-bedroom flat until a more permanent home can be found. Laila is a bright and friendly little girl, but has found it difficult to cope with her step-father’s suicide last year. Laila is just 6 years of age and has never been to a pantomime.

Laila’s name has been changed, but her story is real.

You can support the campaign in many ways, including:

  • By making a donation of £2 at Box Office, and you will receive a special badge as a ‘thank you’
  • At the Box Office – in person or over the phone 024 7655 3055
  • Every donation, like, tweet, link sharing helps to raise awareness of the campaign so THANK YOU.

Helen Hotchkiss, the Belgrade’s Head of Development, says,

We were absolutely thrilled to have exceeded our target for last year’s Making Memories campaign. I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated and helped provide people who are facing a challenging Christmas time with a treat that they won’t forget. Spending quality time together watching a show and building happy memories for the future can be a luxury and one that some people simply cannot afford. We can’t make people’s problems go away, but we can give them some respite from them, and help them to feel more positive.

If you, or anyone you know, would benefit from Making Memories tickets, please contact Coventry Foodbank

Here’s a short message from our Ugly Sisters, explaining all about the campaign and how you can help.
