Join in our Pantastic Pancake Flipping Race for Shrove Tuesday
Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre is inviting you to help celebrate Shrove Tuesday at its first ever Pantastic Pancake Flipping Race, which will take place on Broadgate between 12.30pm and 1.30pm on Tuesday 12 February.
The event will see teams of four competing in a series of races involving flipping pancakes whilst navigating around obstacles for a chance to win a selection of prizes. Entry is free but teams will need to bring their own frying pan.
Collections will be taking place at the event in support of the Belgrade’s Give the Gift of Theatre Campaign, which aims to offer under privileged children and their families the chance to enjoy live theatre at the Belgrade.
The Belgrade launched the Give the Gift of Theatre campaign at Christmas time to coincide with its pantomime, Sleeping Beauty. Both individuals and members of the Belgrade’s Directors’ Club made generous donations to the scheme and as a result 200 children and their families were able to experience the Belgrade’s panto who otherwise may not have been able to.
David Jane, Development Director at the Belgrade said, “Taking part in our Pantastic Pancake Race is a fun way to spend your lunchtime on Pancake Day and there’ll be plenty of prizes up for grabs for the winning teams too. It’s also a great way to raise awareness of the Give the Gift of Theatre campaign and hopefully provide even more families facing financial hardship the opportunity to visit the theatre. After launching the campaign at Christmas we were touched by the feedback we got from families who were given the chance to escape from their struggles for a short period of time and just enjoy spending time together as a family and creating special memories for the future.”
To pre-register your team of four, email firstname.lastname@example.org and don’t forget to bring your own frying pan!
