Your Child's Chance to Star in Aladdin at the Belgrade Theatre
In countdown to this year’s magical pantomime, Aladdin, the Belgrade Theatre is once again giving local children the chance to attend open auditions on Sunday 31st August which could see them land a role in the panto chorus.
The auditions, which are for children aged 9-16 only, will be held at the theatre and will start promptly at 10am. Parents are asked to bring their children to the theatre foyer where they will be numbered against their registration form. Parents are asked to wait in the theatre foyer area or the B2 auditorium whilst their child is auditioning.
Registration forms are available to download from the top right-hand side of this page. Please remember to send your completed registration form and Equalities form to firstname.lastname@example.org Alternatively, please post a copy of both of these documents to the address below in advance of the audition date:
On arrival, children will be given a registration number to identify them and will be sorted into groups based on age and height. The choreographer will take each group in turn and teach them a short routine which will be presented to the panto director. If a child makes it through the first round s/he will be asked to stay for a further round in the afternoon, and so it goes on until the end of the day when we end up with three teams of eight plus one team of reserves.
We suggest that children wear comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for them to move and dance in, and that they bring a soft drink with them.
Please note that at least one parent, guardian or nominated person must wait with each child – unaccompanied children will not be able to audition as the Belgrade theatre cannot be held responsible for any child not accompanied by an adult.
We will be stopping for a lunch hour, the time of which will be decided on the day. Please pick your child up for lunch if they are still with us. Please note that we do not allow food to be brought into the theatre because we have our own café bar which has a selection of light meals on offer all day. If you decide to go off site for lunch, please bring your child back at their designated recall audition time.
The parents of those children chosen to be in the chorus will be asked to attend a meeting at the end of the day for information about licensing and panto guidelines. It is essential that parents attend this meeting so that the business side of their child’s participation can be clearly explained.
Please take a few minutes to read the ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ document which outlines the extent of the commitment needed from our pantomime chorus.
