Auditions for brand new poetry performance production, Being Human
Midland Creative Projects are now auditioning for a brand new performance poetry production called Being Human, featuring contemporary poetry drawn from Bloodaxe Books’ anthology of the same name. The production will open at the Belgrade Theatre in June 2012 and embark on a short two-phase UK tour in July and October 2012. They are looking to cast 3 performers between the ages of 18 and 30 based within 45 minutes travelling time of Coventry.
Applicants should have a keen interest in devising theatre and musical and singing abilities are desirable along with dance and movement skills. It is essential to have enthusiasm for working collaboratively and a keeness in exploring how text can be translated to the stage. Auditions will take place on Saturday 21st April 2012 at the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry. Performers must be available for all dates in the performance and rehearsal schedule (see below) although involvement in the second phase of the tour in October is open to discussion.
A series of development workshops will take place during May in Birmingham and/or Coventry followed by intensive rehearsals on weekdays from Monday 11th to Friday 22nd June 2012 at the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry. The first phase of the tour will commence with performances at the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry on Friday 22nd June 2012 (evening) and Saturday 23rd June 2012 (matinee and evening) with two further performances on Sunday 1st July 2012 and Monday 9th July 2012. The second phase of the tour will include five performances during October, finishing with a performance at The King’s Place, London on Monday 22nd October 2012.
Performer fees payable will be at £100 per day for an anticipated 11 days of development workshops and rehearsals and up to 12 days of performance (this is above ITC recommended rates of £400 per week).
