2 Tone Remembered at the Belgrade Theatre

Posted on 10 July 2014

For anyone yet to hear the news, Three Minute Heroes, the smash-hit 2 Tone musical will make its long awaited return to the Belgrade for three, foot-stomping weeks this Autumn following two previous sell-out runs at the Belgrade Theatre in 2000 and 2001.

In countdown to the show, the Belgrade Theatre is launching an appeal in partnership with the Coventry Music Museum for audiences across Coventry, Warwickshire and the wider Midlands to share their memories of the era that inspired a musical revolution!

A selection of the best photographs shared will be featured live on stage this October as part of Patrick Connellan’s 2Tone inspired set design for the show.

To launch the campaign, we will be holding an open drop-in session at the Belgrade Theatre on Saturday 26th July between 11am and 2pm. The event will feature special guest appearances from stars of The Selecter, Pauline Black and Arthur ‘Gaps’ Henrickson plus further celebrity guests still to be announced.

Coventry Telegraph Music Columnist and Curator/Manager of the Coventry Music Museum, Pete Chambers will also be on hand to share a selection of memorabilia, on loan from the Museum for the afternoon.

For full details of how YOU can play your part in 2 Tone Remembered, watch our latest video filmed from the Coventry Music Museum, 2 Tone Village.

Members of the public wishing to submit a memory are invited to email Belgrade Theatre using email: 2Toneremembered@belgrade.co.uk, Subject Line: Ska’d For Life.

You can also share your memories via Facebook at www.facebook.com/Belgradetheatre or via Twitter @BelgradeTheatre using the hashtag #2ToneRemembered

Telling the story of 2 Tone through the lives of five Coventry teenagers and the racial tensions that engulfed the city at that time, Three Minute Heroes is a funny, feel-good and, at times, thought-provoking tribute to the city that inspired a musical revolution. Featuring a terrific live band and a soundtrack of songs which made stars of The Specials and The Selecter, tickets for Three Minute Heroes are on sale now.

Tickets for Three Minute Heroes are priced from £9 – £21.25 and can be purchased via the Belgrade Theatre’s Box Office on 024 7655 3055 or online at www.belgrade.co.uk where cheaper tickets are available.

You can find out more about the Coventry Music Museum by visiting the 2 Tone Central website.
