What Will You Do With Your First Fiver?

Posted on 28 September 2016

So, the new machine-washable and smaller polymer £5 note is now in circulation across the UK – and we were intrigued to see what they looked like when a few were used at the theatre this week. Have you seen them yet?

Do you know what you will do with your first fiver? Why not consider donating it to charity.

The idea of donating your first fiver was originally shared on social media by fundraiser John Thompson, with the Institute of Fundraising (the professional membership body for UK fundraisers), then helping the campaign to go viral by supporting the Twitter hashtags #givefive and #firstfiver.

At the Belgrade, we create theatre in the belief that it can enrich our communities and fundamentally change peoples’ lives for the better. However, we are only able to do this, thanks to the continued support of our audiences, funders, Members, corporate partners and donors.

To donate your first new £5 note to the Belgrade, please pop it into one of our donation boxes or visit box office.
