Sent From Coventry - The Spoils, Trafalgar Studios

Posted on 10 June 2016

Did you know…

  • The Belgrade Theatre is home to one of THE leading scenic manufacturing facilities in the UK?*
  • As well as producing sets for all of its own shows, the Belgrade attracts commissions from theatres both here in the UK and abroad?*
  • Belgrade Production Services have produced sets for some of the UK’s biggest theatres including The National, The Royal Court, Trafalgar Studios, Leicester Curve and The Open Air Theatre, Regent’s Park. *

Belgrade Production Services, the theatre’s commercial set building arm, was first established in 2007 in a bid by the theatre to become less reliant on public funding.

The Red Lane building, which originally manufactured armaments for World War I, underwent a major refurbishment back in 2014 and has since gone from strength to strength, attracting commissions from some of the UK’s largest and most prestigious theatre organisations.

With the support of Coventry and Warwickshire Growth Hub, April 2015 saw BPS secure funding to purchase a CNC Router machine, enabling the company to cut scenery for bigger and more complex theatre productions including high profile shows in the West End.

Most recently, Belgrade Production Services (or BPS for short) have been hard at work creating the set for West End smash hit, The Spoils starring international film-star Jesse Eisenberg, an actor best known for playing Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network and Kunal Nayar, known to audiences across the globe from The Big Bang Theory.

You can view a selection of photo highlights from The Spoils’ journey from page to stage by scrolling through the tweets below. We’ll be posting regular updates from behind-the-scenes of BPS so keep your eyes peeled for future ‘Sent From Coventry’ posts coming soon…
