OperaUpClose's Carmen In Pictures - What To Expect

Posted on 18 January 2016

Following the success of La Boheme, La Traviata and The Marriage of Figaro at Belgrade Theatre, Olivier Award-winning OperaUpClose make a welcome return to the venue this January with their new English version of Bizet’s wildly popular opera, Carmen.

This tantalising new production takes place in a torrid South American landscape of dust and concrete, where small-town boredom and machismo can turn nasty.

Featuring orchestration by Harry Blake for a quartet of strings, woodwind and percussion and directed by Robin Norton-Hale, this dark and brooding adaptation, sung in English, has been attracting sensational reviews from critics following its premiere at Soho Theatre, London earlier this year.

You can view a selection of photo highlights from the production by clicking on the gallery icon to your right. Plus, you can find out more about Robin Norton-Hale’s sizzling adaptation of the Bizet classic in the Behind The Scenes video feature below.

Tickets for Carmen are available now via the Belgrade Theatre Box Office on 024 7655 3055. Alternatively, you can book online 24 hours a day where tickets are cheaper.
