No Pe-King! Inside the Aladdin Model Box Set
It’s that time of year again! Oh Yes It Is!
Yes, the countdown to panto season has officially begun and with it, three exciting months of backstage preparations, flamboyant costume fittings and behind-the-scenes exclusives by the bucket load.
This week saw the cast of Aladdin meet for the very first time as rehearsals for the show kicked off in the Patrick Suite. After a quick meet and greet over coffee and cake, there was just enough time to introduce the cast to Iain Westbrook’s Chinese-inspired set design before embarking upon a first read-through of the Aladdin script.
Leading our tour of Old Peking was Writer/Director Iain Lauchlan who will once again be donning the grease paint in the role of the irrepressible Widow Twankey this year. You can view a selection of images of the Model Box Set by clicking on the gallery icon to the right.
Also on hand to add to the panto magic was Costume Designer Cleo Petit who treated the cast and crew to a first glimpse inside the wardrobe of Old Peking with previews of some of this year’s incredible costumed-creations…including Widow Twankey’s Recycling Dress complete with built-in solar panels (eat your heart out Alan Sugar!)
Tickets for this year’s festive extravaganza are currently flying off the shelves so audiences are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.
