Lucky competition winners get VIP treatment at Mother Goose
After winning a competition in the Coventry Telegraph and a Touch FM auction for the NSPCC, two lucky families got to enjoy a VIP visit to see Mother Goose which is running on the Main Stage until Sat 7 Jan.
As part of the prize they got to watch the show from some of the best seats in the house, received a show programme signed by members of the cast and they even had the chance to go backstage after the show and meet some of the cast members, including Mother Goose herself.
Touch FM’s auction for the NSPCC offered a series of items, services and ‘once in a lifetime’ experiences with all money raised going directly to the children’s charity.
This classic panto tale follows the story of Mother Goose and her two sons Jack and Archie as they embark on a spectacular journey to save the village of Middle Widdle-on-the-Tiddle from the wicked schemes of Squire Spartikus Skinflint and the villainous Demon King.
Steve Boden from Imagine Theatre, who co-produce the Belgrade pantomime, said, “Mother Goose is a great panto with a really strong battle between ‘good’ and ‘evil’ at its core. Andy Hockley is such a great Dame and has always wanted to play Mother Goose as it’s the Dame’s panto. This year’s production promises to be one of the most spectacular ever staged at the theatre. The scenery and costumes are amazing and without giving too much away, there will be plenty of comedy and slapstick fun including a very messy decorating scene.”
The role of Mother Goose is played by Coventry’s very own Dame extraordinaire Andy Hockley, who will be taking a year off from the Belgrade’s panto duties next year to take up a role in the national tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit musical The Phantom of the Opera.
