Family Matters – Bringing YOUR family to the theatre this October

Posted on 12 October 2015

This October at the Belgrade Theatre, we’re hosting a Festival of Theatre for Children and Young People, jam-packed with shows for all ages! If you’re planning a family visit to the Belgrade this Autumn, here’s some handy tips and tricks to remember…

What’s the Festival all about?

Running from 19 – 31 October, the Festival is part of a year-long programme of events celebrating 50 years of Theatre in Education which was invented here in Coventry. The movement begun at the Belgrade, before spreading to theatres throughout the UK and across the world!

Which shows are suitable for my family?

With some of the UK’s very best professional theatre for children taking to the stage, there’s something for everyone in the October Festival. For little ones aged 2+, we recommend shows like The Snow Dragon, Marty MacDonald’s Farm and The Cat in the Hat which are a feast of music, puppets and magic! For older children aged 11+, The Hate Play, Pocket Merchant, Rise Up and I Wish I Had A Moustache are all a fun and educational experience. Finally, children aged 3 – 11 with learning disabilities are invited to a palace of sensory delights, in the Light Show.

What facilities does the Belgrade have for families?

The Belgrade has been awarded a Family Arts Standards which means we’re officially a family friendly venue. Here are some of the facilities we provide for families:

  • The Belgrade Café Bar offers a selection of high quality food and drink as well as our restaurant, the Belgrade Kitchen open from 5pm on performance nights.
