Culture Takes Centre Stage at Godiva Festival 2016 - What's On

Posted on 27 June 2016

With less than a week until the return of the UK’s biggest, free festival, we’re counting down to Godiva 2016 with a week of exclusive updates, features and competitions celebrating all that’s great about culture here in Coventry!

Don’t forget, you can find us in the Family Field on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd July alongside our friends at Warwick Arts Centre and Culture Coventry where we’ll be armed with plenty of goodies as well as all the latest info on our new Autumn 2016 season.

Plus, look out for special guest appearances from everyone’s favourite panto Dame, Iain Lauchlan on the Radio Plus Community Stage throughout Saturday 3rd July. Fans of Bollywood dance can also look forward to a series of interactive dance tutorials from resident dance diva, Sneha Singh.

Meanwhile, over in the Rhythm Tent on Sunday, Coventry City of Culture 2021 will be taking over the stage to showcase some of the incredible skills and talent of artists and performers from across Coventry and Warwickshire. Expect the unexpected as you discover acts that you know and love alongside a selection of hidden gems that Coventry 2021 have uncovered on their search, from diggers to drama, boxing to baking and a whole host of other home-grown talent thrown in.

Look out for appearances from the Belgrade Asian Youth Theatre who will be performing an extract from their thought-provoking play, Somewhere To Belong. Plus, Black Youth Theatre will be on hand to perform a musical number from ‘Children of Killers’. Look out also for a performance from our resident Springboard Company, Noctium who join us in B2 this Summer with their acclaimed staging of The Country Doctor from 20th – 22nd July.
