Posted on 10 November 2015

Rehearsals are now under-way for this year’s glittering Belgrade pantomime, Beauty and the Beast. This magical and heroic adventure plays out on the Main Stage from Weds 25 Nov – Sat 9 Jan and is set to be the perfect family treat Christmas!

Writer and director Iain Lauchlan returns to celebrate his 21st pantomime at the Belgrade. Having built himself a reputation as Coventry’s favourite pantomime Dame, he’ll be donning a frock once again for the role of Dame Clarabelle Crumble in Beauty and the Beast! Iain has worked in the entertainment business for over 40 years, most famously producing and creating much-loved children’s TV series such as Fingermouse, Playdays and The Tweenies.

Also returning for his 3rd pantomime at the Belgrade, is actor Craig Hollingsworth. He will playing Willy Crumble, Dame Clarabelle’s son and loveable sidekick. Together Craig and Iain make the perfect comedy pairing!

Our stunning Beauty will be played by stage actress Jessica Niles, who has appeared in many productions across the UK and on the West End. Her charming and handsome Prince will be played by Charlie Bowyer who will also double up in the role of the Beast. With some quick costume changes and panto trickery, his transition from Prince to Beast will look as if by magic!

Completing this year’s cast are Andrew Gordon Watkins in the role of Maurice, Jenny Phillips as The Enchantress and Blake Scott as Dork.

They will be joined on stage by a talented cast of 24 local performers aged 9-16 who together make up the production’s three teams of pantomime chorus, Roses, Briars and Thorns. The 24 young performers successfully auditioned for a role in this year’s festive pantomime earlier this year following record turn outs attracting young talent from as far afield as Birmingham, Nuneaton and Tamworth.

Beauty and the Beast is set to be one of the most successful Belgrade pantomimes on record so audiences are advised to book now to avoid disappointment. Tickets are priced from £14.50 – £23 for adults and £9.50 – £18 for children. Family tickets are available from £36.
