BOPA celebrate The Queen becoming Britian's longest reigning Monarch

Posted on 23 September 2015

On Saturday 12 September, we played host to the British Organisation for People of British Origin (BOPA) event which commemorated the Queen’s achievement of becoming the longest serving British monarch. The event consisted of a commonwealth musical showcase, incorporated groups performing from both African and Asian Communities.

We are delighted that BOPA chose the Belgrade Theatre to host their event, and are pleased to have more events booked in with us at the theatre in the coming months. BOPA aims to promote British identity, integration, peace, social and community cohesion. These themes are also very consistent with the aims of our Community & Education Company who believe that participatory arts provide young people with a voice with which to express their opinions and experiences and promotes community cohesion amongst the diverse population of the Coventry.

Hosting Events and Conferences for local (and national) organisations provides another valuable income stream for the Belgrade and enables the theatre to continue to deliver its’s charitable objectives.

Ps. Don’t forget to check out upcoming play Handbagged, Moira Buffini’s celebrated new comedy that speculates on what The Queen and Margaret Thatcher really talked about behind closed palace doors.
