Audience Reaction to Belgrade Theatre Unplugged 2014

Posted on 1 August 2014

The sun has finally set on this year’s Belgrade Theatre Unplugged. From stately homes to bustling shopping centres, art galleries to almshouses, this year’s week-long programme of rehearsed readings from our Autumn season has seen us visit some truly remarkable locations across Coventry and Warwickshire from the historic surroundings of Upton House in Banbury right through to the iconic ‘Gyrus’ at Lunt Roman Fort in Baginton by way of Rugby Museum and Art Gallery, Nicholas Chamberlain Almshouses, Touchwood Shopping Centre in Solihull and more.

Belgrade Unplugged gives audiences a unique opportunity to see our work in the earliest stages of its development, and talk to the actors that have performed the scenes. It also allows us to showcase some of the best new writing being produced by our Critical Mass programme, including the highly emotive production of Visiting Hours.

At some of the venues we also had performances from our Community & Education Company. This gave them a unique opportunity to perform in a variety of venues to a wider audience, and showcase their talent alongside that of the professional actors. And for two participants, Amy and Luca, they had the opportunity to work with the professional company all week and perform with them in Visiting Hours, a great insight into a career that they hope to pursue.

Belgrade Unplugged was funded by individuals and businesses, who came together to make this project happen. Without their generosity we simply wouldn’t have been able to offer this opportunity.
